Discover the Grand Ballon and the Vosges through 3 fun events
THE GRAND BALLON
The Grand Ballon is the highest mountain (1424 m) in the French Vosges , a medium-high mountain range in northeastern France. This famous mountain is located in the Ballons des Vosges Natural Park.
The top of the mountain is just above the tree line; there is a wide view of the surroundings from there. Much further south, the Alps can be seen, including Mont Blanc.
Our base is always the small ski village of Le Markstein ( 1174m) located 8km from the summit of the Grand Ballon.
TRAIL DU GRAND BALLON
- 27-28 APRIL 2024 -
This is already the 6th edition with start and finish in Le Markstein at 1183m altitude at Hotel Wolf. The first 9k towards Saint-Amarin are downhill, just to wake up the upper legs!
Distances to choose 10 - 23 - 32 - 48 or 70km, all of course with the necessary altimeters.
Looking for a bigger challenge? Then sign up for the Scott Xtrails Vosges two-day Challenge and run the Sprinttrail in the afternoon, the Trail du Markstein in the afternoon and the Trail du Grand Ballon on Sunday!
MARATHON DU GRAND BALLON
- 20 July 2024 -
The 5th edition of the Marathon (Trail) du Grand Ballon will start again in the ski village of Le Markstein, at 1183m altitude, at hotel Wolf.
Besides the traditional marathon distance of 42km, there are also a 13, 22 and 80km on the program !
WALK DU GRAND BALLLON
- 19 till 21 July 2024 -
The Walk du Grand Ballon is a one, 2 or three-day hike through the most beautiful places in the Vosges Mountains. The 5th edition will take place again in 2024 in Le Markstein with renewed routes.
The event is for the benefit of Think Pink, which fights against breast cancer. Each day you will discover a new part of the Vosges mountains. One - Two or hhree days of hiking with extensive supply stations!
