SUMMER EDITION

11 July 2026

A summer trail in the High Vosges

In July, Markstein will become the Vosges trail capital for a day. A perfect opportunity to explore the mountains under the sun and enjoy a km/elevation ratio reminiscent of the Alps!

11 JANUARY: REGISTER

Registrations for the 2026 edition will open on January 11, exactly 6 months before the race.
We hope to confirm the event date and the registration opening date as soon as possible.

THE PRACTICAL GUIDE

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Here you will find all the practical information about the Trail du Grand Ballon Summer Edition in July 2026.

We work with the Passion For Sports / SQM Time registration module. You can register several runners at the same time and AFTER registration, you can modify them yourself via your PFS account.

The start and finish are located at Hotel Wolf in Markstein
(Route des Crêtes, Le Markstein).

A parking area is available 500 m from the start (please follow the signs).
Please do not park opposite the start area, inside the start area, or next to “La Bulle”.

Please throw your waste in the designated bins (or keep it with you).

Several bins will be available at the aid stations as well as at the Markstein site (start and finish).

Did you order a t-shirt and/or a medal?
You can collect them before or after your trail by presenting your bib at the designated stand.

Did you order a folding cup?
You can pick it up at the race office.

Since the 2024 edition, we have been working with the association Les Amis de Luisa.
They help us with various tasks during the event: aid stations, bag deposit, signposting, etc.

In order to support them, we ask all participants to donate a minimum of one euro to the association when they register. You can of course donate more. All donations will go to Amis de Luisa, whose aim is to help children with multiple disabilities and their families.

One or two timing chip(s) will stick to the back of your chest number. Do not fold the chip(s) and make sure you wear your bib number above your clothes on your belly or chest. The chips ensure that your (intermediate) times are registered when you pass a checkpoint.

Checkpoints are scattered around the course, usually at the supply point. Some checkpoints beep when you walk through them, but not all. So don't panic if you don't hear anything, you will still be registered.

All split times and finishing times of all participants can be followed live online on the SQM Time website. On the day of the event, the results can be followed live at www.sqmtime.com/live.
Through this live coverage, supporters on site can follow the progression of their favourite runners via their smartphones. Of course, fans at home can also follow everything closely.

There are even participants who, during the race, like to check how much position they are in and how much time their buddy is ahead or behind!

CHARITY

Luisa was born on August 26, 2008 in Colmar. She was a beautiful and healthy baby. Everything changed on Sunday, May 18, 2009: she was diagnosed with herpetic encephalitis (a severe form of meningitis). As a result, she lost all her motor skills and memory.

Her parents then decided to create an association called Les amis de Luisa , with the aim of raising funds in support of children with multiple disabilities and organizing assistance and activities for them (support during outings, childcare, etc.).

Since the 2024 edition, we have been working with the association Les Amis de Luisa, who have been helping us at various positions during the event: aid stations, bag drop, signage, etc.

In 2025, you raised a record amount of €8,000!
