This summer again : the Grand Ballon Trail, tough trail through the Vosges mountains… And 6 distances are on the programme for 2026… Cherry on the cake: all these distances entitle you to an UTMB Index !
- 80 KM (3872 D+) : 100k UTMB Index
- 60 KM (2864 D+) : 50k UTMB Index
- 45 KM (2020 D+) : 50k UTMB Index
- 35 KM (1678 D+) : 50k UTMB Index
- 25 KM (1155 D+) : 20k UTMB Index
- 20 KM (881 D+) : 20k UTMB Index
Last year there were 1,800 runners at the start, and by 2026 we’ll be offering a total of 2,000 race numbers.
Registration opens on this sunday 19 January. The first 500 runners will receive a great gift: our official Grand Ballon Trail backpack!
If the sale of race numbers follows the trend of the Trail du Grand Ballon (2500 race numbers sold in 2 days), we’ll be sold out on 12 January… So good luck in securing your place and with your preparation!

And to top it all off… the finish of the 2026 Tour de France step at Markstein will take place 7 days later (Saturday, July 18): the perfect opportunity to enjoy a week-long vacation on site and experience the excitement alongside the riders that day!
